Farmville Sheep Breeding: How to Breed a Camo Sheep

The rules in this article no longer apply.  For the new sheep breeding patterns, refer to New Farmville Sheep Breeding Patterns  - added May/2011.

Breeding sheep on Farmville is definitely entertaining.  However, I know from experience that it is easy to get bored of the colors and designs on your farm and eventually you will want something more.  The Camo sheep is one of the first designs that came out and can be attained by asking one of your neighbors to send you a Camo lamb.  However, before you ask for a lamb, you want to make sure that you know what you are asking for so that you don't waste time breeding and breeding and getting nothing from your new Camo sheep.  So I have provided some sheep basics below.

Sheep Gender: Rams generally pass on design and the secondary color.  Ewes generally give the base color and the special features.

Sheep Color: There are a variety of different colors, but you should know that the placement of the color on the sheep determines what colors the resulting sheep will have.  The base color, is the color is the color in the middle of the Camo sheep design or around the stars or dots.  The secondary color is on the outside of the Camo or the star or dot colors.  Sometimes you will also find third colors; especially in Camo sheep.

Sheep Designs: Besides Camo sheep, there are Collar, Dot, Star, Belt, and one color sheep.  Remember the design is decided by the Ram.  So if you want a particular design, ask your friend to send a Ram of that design.
Special Features: The special feature out there right now are Masked, Flashing, Split Color, Electric, and Popping.  All of these special features breed in the same way as sheep color.  So, these traits are passed primarily through the Ewe.

Sequence Selection: Which sheep you select first when breeding makes a difference in what you will get.  Generally, if you want the Design of the Ram, the base color or special feature of the Ewe to come up, then select the Ewe first.  Selecting an Ewe first favors the Ewe's base color and gender and the Ram's design.  If you pick the Ram first, you are more likely to get Ram's colors and gender and there's a chance of capturing the Ewe's design.

Camo Sheep Basics
In order to start breeding Camo sheep, ask your friend to send you a Camo Ram.  Since there is nothing particular about the Camo sheep that identifies it as a Camo sheep, your friend should breed any Ewe with a Camo Ram and select the Ewe first.  For 100% results, your friend should breed two Camo sheep and send you the Ram.  If they have two Camo's to breed, they should select the Ram first to have better chances of a boy sheep.
Once you have a Camo Ram, breed the Ram with any Ewe, but select the Ewe first to favor the Ram's design.  If you get an Ewe from your friend instead of a Ram, you should breed the Ewe with the a plain design of Ram and select the Ram first.  This will favor the Ewe's Camo design and you will have a better chance of getting a boy lamb.
We can only get love potion every 4 hours, so I hope that this information will help you breed more effectively. Remember that FV changes things from time to time so feel free to comment if you discover a change in the rules.
